Allegiant Air is a low cost airline in the United States headquartered in Summerlin, NV. The airline was founded in 1997 originally as a “high end” carrier under the name WestJet Express. Currently, Allegiant Air services 114 destinations spanning the United States. The majority of the destinations are to smaller regional airports and typically only a few times each week.

 

Allegiant Air Flight Attendant Job Requirements:

To become a flight attendant, there are minimum requirements that must be met. The general requirements are covered in the post Flight Attendant Requirements. This section will discuss the requirements specific to Allegiant Air.

  • Must be a least 21 years old
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Possess a valid passport
    • US passport ; or
    • Foreign passport with applicable visas (if required)
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess the legal right to travel unrestricted to/from all countries that are served by Allegiant Air
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Height proportional to your weight
    • Ability to walk and fit comfortably down aircraft aisle
    • Fit through over-wing exit
    • Able to sit in jumpseat without modifications or seatbelt extensions
  • Pass a physical/medical exam; including ability to:
    • Push/pull cart/boxes in excess of 300 lbs
    • No condition that would be adversely affected by flight
    • Must be comfortable in water environments
  • Successfully complete and pass Federally regulated pre-employment drug screen
    • Willing to submit to random drug/alcohol tests throughout employment
  • Comply with necessary pre-employment checks mandated by TSA and/or Department of Transportation
    • Pass a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) required 5 year work history review
    • Pass a criminal background check
    • Complete the Department of Transportation (DOT) fingerprinting
  • Successfully complete a 4.5 week flight attendant training program in Las Vegas, NV
    • Upon employment, actively participate in recurring emergency and re-qualification training
  • Available for alternative work schedules, including evenings weekends and holidays

 

To obtain a Flight Attendant job with Allegiant Air, strong considerations will be given to flight attendant candidates:

  • With a minimum of one year experience in direct customer service
  • Some college or post-secondary education
  • Who can speak one or more additional languages

 

Other requirements that may be helpful:

  • Work independently or as part of a team without supervision
  • Project and maintain a positive attitude and composure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; friendly reception of all customers
  • Must present a professional image while in the flight attendant uniform
    • Neat and well groomed
  • Basic computer skills

 

Training:

  • 5 week initial flight attendant training program conducted in Las Vegas, NV
  • Minimum of 5 hours of Initial Operating Experience
  • Must maintain a ninety (90) percent or above average on all written and oral exams
  • Class hours may include nights and weekends
  • Will be offered employment and put on payroll after successful completion of the program
  • Training is not paid
    • However, a per diem will be given to cover miscellaneous expenses during that time

Starting a flight attendant career can be great for people who love to travel. In this career you may work one or several flights per day. When the required flight attendant training program has been successfully completed, you will be assigned a base location. This is the city Allegiant Air has hired you to work from; therefore, you have to report to work at the designated city and airport. Depending on your current location, this may require you to commute into the base city to work or require potential relocation to the designated city.

Relocation:

  • If  relocation required, will be at the expense of the employee
