Republic Airways is a regional airline in the United States. The carrier is a subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings that owns both Republic Airlines and Shuttle America. The carrier serves over 110 cities in the U.S., Canada, and the Bahamas operating under partner brands, including American Eagle (American Airlines), Delta Connection (Delta Air Lines), and United Express (United Airlines). The airline started operations in 2004, and is currently headquartered in Indianapolis, IN.


Republic Airways Flight Attendant Job Requirements:

To become a flight attendant, there are minimum requirements that must be met. The general requirements are covered in the post Flight Attendant Requirements. This section will discuss the requirements specific to Republic Airways.

  • Must be a least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Height proportional to your weight
    • Ability to walk and fit comfortably down aircraft aisle
    • Fit quickly through any exit
    • Able to sit in jumpseat without modifications or seatbelt extensions
  • Possess a valid passport
    • United States or foreign passport
    • Including applicable VISAs
    • Able to travel unrestricted in and out of the U.S.
  • Legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Successfully complete a 10 year background and criminal history check
    • Including Federally mandated finger printing
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak proficiently in English
  • Able to see clearly at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts
  • Able to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems with ambient aircraft and passenger noise
  • Pass a physical/medical exam
    • Including ability to push/pull/lift up to 70 lbs objects
    • Push and pull meal/beverage carts in excess of 250 lbs
  • Successfully complete and pass Federally regulated pre-employment drug and alcohol test
    • Willing to submit to random drug and alcohol tests throughout employment
  • Successfully complete a 20+ day flight attendant training program at a company designated location
    • Successfully complete all subsequent training programs once employed
  • Ability to work flexible hours, days, and holidays


To obtain a flight attendant job with Republic Airways, strong considerations will be given to flight attendant candidates:

  • With two years of customer service experience
    • Preferably in an aviation environment
  • Who can speak one or more additional languages
  • With previous flight attendant experience


Other requirements that may be helpful:

  • Ability to maintain uniform standards
    • No visible tattoos
    • No multiple piercings
    • Any tattoo must be covered up by standard uniform (make-up/bandages are not acceptable coverage)
  • Professional oriented personality
  • Positive attitude
  • Willing to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Able and willing to serve and handle peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef and pork
  • Able to handle stressful situations
  • Friendly and polite

Starting a flight attendant career can be great for people who love to travel. In this career you may work one or several flights per day. When the required airline training program has been successfully completed, you will be assigned a base location. This is the city Republic Airways has hired you to work from; therefore, you have to report to work at the designated city and airport. Depending on your current location, this may require you to commute into the base city to work or require potential relocation to the designated city.

    • Paid at 2 times the employee’s annual salary

    • Employees may contribute up to 90% of income on a pre-tax basis
    • Company matches at 10005 that increase from 2.5% to 6% of eligible earnings

  • Short and Long Term Disability
    • Short Term – benefits begin on 8th consecutive day of total disability and can last for up to 26 weeks.
    • Cost for benefit is shared between company and employee (varies based on employee’s pay)
    • Long Term – pays 60% of earnings (maximum of $5,000 per month) if employee cannot work because of a disabling illness or injury
    • Must be at least 180 days
    • Premiums are based on age and salary
  • Commuter Benefits
    • Reimbursement account which allows employees to use pre-tax dollars to pay for parking and commuting expenses that are incurred in order to work
