Spirit Airlines is a low-cost airline in the USA. The airline service has founded in 1980 under the name Charter One. In 1992, the name was changed to Spirit Airlines and commenced service from Detroit to Atlantic City. Today, the airline services 56 destinations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Spirit Airlines is headquartered in Miramar, FL and operates two major hubs in Fort Lauderdale and Detroit.

 

Spirit Airlines Flight Attendant Job Requirements

To become a flight attendant, there are minimum requirements that must be met. The general requirements are covered in the post Flight Attendant Requirements. This section will discuss the requirements specific to Spirit Airlines.

  • Must be a least 21 years old
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum height – at least 5’0 (without shoes)
  • Possess a valid United States passport or foreign passport with applicable visas
  • Must possess the legal right to travel unrestricted to/from all countries that are served by Spirit Airlines
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Pass a physical/medical exam
    • Including lifting 40lbs from floor to shoulder level
    • Including ability to reach aircraft overhead bins/storage
  • Successfully complete a four week flight attendant training program in Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Ability to work flexible hours, days, and holidays

To obtain a Flight Attendant job with Spirit Airlines, strong considerations will be given to flight attendant candidates:

  • With a college degree
  • Who own a driver licence
  • Who can speak one or more additional languages
    • Spanish preferred

Other requirements that may be helpful:

  • At least two years in one of the following industries:
    • Customer service
    • Hospitality
    • Sales/merchandising
  • Ability to work in close quarters with service animals as well as all snack items, including but not limited to peanuts
  • Must be dependable, energetic, outgoing, a team player, and demonstrate leadership and exceptional interpersonal skills
    • Must present a polished, professional, and conservative image at all times

Starting a flight attendant career can be great for people who love to travel. In this career you may work one or several flights per day. When the required flight attendant training program has been successfully completed, you will be assigned a base location. This is the city Spirit Airlines has hired you to work from; therefore, you have to report to work at the designated city and airport. Depending on your current location, this may require you to commute into the base city to work or require potential relocation to the designated city.
